Illuminate: An Advent Experience

Illuminate! What does it mean? It means to supply or brighten with light; light up; to make lucid or clear. Jesus said, “I am the light of the world”.  Christmas is a time to celebrate God’s coming to this world through Jesus Christ!  It is also a call for His followers to be a light to the world. Let’s move away from just the hustle and bustle of shopping and move towards being the Light of the World! This new series, Illuminate: AnAdvent Experience, will help you to have a Christmas season like non other! 

 Advent is supposed to be an intentional time of waiting and preparing for the coming of Christ. But during those weeks, it is easy for our lives to get busier than ever. This year we are offering you an opportunity to rediscover the true purpose and meaning of Advent through the familiar practices of prayer, story-sharing, scripture reading, holy conversations and acts of mercy.

Have you ever said or heard someone say, “I Hate Christmas!” Maybe you have had years of failed attempts to produce a picture perfect Christmas, but in the end you felt like a complete Scrooge! Well this year can be different for you. Pastor Kevin will lead you through an interactive “Christmas Experiment” to help you live out the Christmas Message! Each week, we will explore the message of FAITH, HOPE, and LOVE. You will be given different experiments to try during the week and you will be encouraged to share your experiences with the rest of the church through our online blog at www.thechristmasexperiment.com or respond on this post. Week #1 Experiments

Experiments revolve around putting faith into action.

1. Invite someone to church with you next week, send a post card invitation or hand them a booklet invitation. These tools can be picked up in the foyer or church office.

2. Spend a week intentionally praying for those who have had their faith shaken. Send them a note to let them know what you prayed for.

3. Pray for God to lead you through a dilemma that confuses you. If he gives you a leading, follow it without regard.

4. A strong faith requires knowledge of the Word. Memorize

And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. Heb. 11:6
